Ruby Red Leaf Lettuce
250 Seeds
(Lactuca sativa) Looseleaf variety produces vibrant ruby red leaves with chartreuse mid-veins and frilly margins. In our opinion Ruby has the best texture of any lettuce variety. The wrinkled leaves are both smooth and crunchy, but not thick or watery and seem to hold just the right amount of dressing. They are never limp and they hold well in the refrigerator for days. We've also been impressed with how well the plants do under cold frames, seeming to grow later into fall while most other lettuces are sitting still. 45-55 days to harvest. 250 seeds per pkt.
CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 4-6" apart, 1/8" deep in rows 18-24" apart. Under ideal conditions, germination will occur in 2-14 days. For best yield, harvest by cutting individual leaves from the plant, leaving the growing tip intact.
