Seven Top Turnip Greens

$ 3.69

Seven Top Turnip is a popular heirloom variety of turnip grown primarily for its large, tender green leaves.  Cold-tolerant and easy-to-grow, Seven Top Turnip produces continuous yields of dark green leaves throughout spring and early summer when spring-planted, or late fall and winter when sown in the fall.

Dating back to the 18th century, Seven Top has been grown by generations of Americans and has been a long-time favorite for overwintering in the South.  The vigorous plants yield well under a variety of conditions and are quick to recover when harvested.

Seven Top's lush greens are packed with vitamins and minerals and boast a unique, peppery flavor that makes the young leaves great for adding to salads, soups and stir-fries.  Most notable, of course, is their popularity for braising, usually alongside some country ham or salt pork, onions and broth.  However you like to prepare them, one thing's for sure, this variety will have you harvesting fresh greens for months to come.  250 seeds per packet.  50 days to harvest.
