Vates is an open-pollinated collard variety introduced in the 1930's by the Virginia Truck Experimental Station. Compact, slow-bolting plants produce large, blue-green leaves with a mild, cabbage-like flavor that sweetens with frost. Thick, slightly crumpled leaves are excellent for boiling or sautéing. Grows approximately two feet tall. Harvests begin roughly 60 to 80 days after planting. Each packet contains a minimum of 100 seeds.
