Turkey Craw Pole Bean
25 Seeds
Turkey Craw is an Appalachian heirloom pole bean originating from the Cumberland Gap region near the junctions of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. The name Turkey Craw is the result of charming folklore claiming that the original bean was discovered in a turkey's craw. Pole-type plants produce excellent yields of stringless, 6-inch-long pods. Commonly used as a dual-purpose variety, with snap beans harvested after the pods have begun to fill out, but before the seeds have lost their immature green color. Beans harvested at this stage have similar qualities to a greasy bean, but without the need for destringing. Mature beans have beautiful chestnut mottling and can be used similarly to any other dry bean. Approximately 80 days to harvest. Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.
