Logan Giant Pole Bean
25 Seeds
(Phaseolus vulgaris) Rare Appalachian heirloom bean originating from West Virginia, where it is still quite popular in local seed saving circles. Vigorous, pole-type plants produce buckets of large green beans that boast a unique, almost nutty flavor when cooked. Tender green pods can get quite large without getting stringy or the seeds becoming tough. Historically used to make leather britches. Mottled grayish-brown seed is also suitable for use as a dry bean. 85 days to harvest. 25 seeds per packet.
CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 4-6" apart, 1" deep in rows 24-36" apart. Plants require trellising. Under ideal conditions, germination will occur in 7-10 days. For highest yield, harvest regularly. Avoid touching plants while leaves are wet as this can spread disease.
