Hensley Settlement Heirloom Yellow Tomato
Hensley Settlement is an heirloom yellow tomato originating from the Cumberland Gap region of the Appalachian Mountains. Reportedly grown for decades by the Hensley family of southeastern Kentucky on their 500-acre Brush Mountain settlement. Prior to being sold to become part of the Cumberland Gap National Park in the 1950s, the mountaintop property was a self-sustaining settlement with nearly everything being grown, raised or handmade on site. The Hensley Settlement tomato produces excellent yields of large yellow tomatoes weighing up to one pound each. Remarkably uniform and blemish-free for a large yellow variety with a flavor that is sweet and mild. Harvests begin approximately 70 days from transplant. Each packet contains a minimum of 50 seeds.
