Coal Camp Pole Snap/Green Bean

$ 3.99

(Phaseolus vulgaris) This rare Appalachian pole bean variety produces heavy harvests of lovely, long green pods that are tender and delicious.  When evaluated by West Virginia University, Coal Camp was the voted the winner for fresh eating quality among all the beans trialed.  Pole-type plants produce cascades of pale purple flowers that give way to green pods with a unique purple cast.  Seeds are initially white, eventually maturing to black.  70 days to harvest.  25 seeds per packet.

CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 4-6" apart, 1" deep in rows 24-36" apart.  Plants require trellising.  Under ideal conditions, germination will occur in 7-10 days.  For highest yield, harvest regularly.  Avoid touching plants while leaves are wet as this can spread disease.
