Christmas Lima Bean

25 Seeds

$ 3.99

(Phaseolus lunatis) Also known as Large Speckled Lima, produces heavy yields of quarter-sized, white lima beans splashed with maroon swirls and speckles. Plants grow vigorously to 10 ft and yield well even in extreme heat. Beans are produced 2-3 per pod and are a delight to shell, like opening a Christmas present. Markings hold well in storage and are even retained after cooking. Delicious chestnut-like flavor complimented by a rich potato-like texture. Excellent bean all-around.  Pole habit. 95 days to harvest. 25 seeds/pkt.

CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 4-6" apart, 1" deep in rows 24-36" apart.  Plants require trellising.  Under ideal conditions, germination will occur in 7-10 days.  Avoid touching plants while leaves are wet as this can spread disease.

Planted this variety along with willow leaf variety. Got about 90% germination on this variety too. Very pleased. For some reason, nobody local had any pole butterbeans. So glad I discovered Thresh seed online. They delivered!!! Plants are climbing on up

First year with Christmas Limas

We grow our beans on arches that we make out of cattle panels. It makes harvesting so much easier when you can stand under the arch and pick. This will be my first year with Christmas Limas and I’m looking forward to them!
