Minnie Shatterly Cornield Bean
25 Seeds
(Phaseolus vulgaris) A rare Appalachian variety shared with us by long-time seed saver John Coykendall. Pole-type plants produce excellent yields of slightly curved, flattened pods containing tan seeds with dark red speckles. Traditionally planted alongside corn and allowed to grow up the stalks. A great variety for canning and we suspect it would also work well as a shelling bean. 80 days to harvest. 25 seeds per packet.
CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 4-6" apart, 1" deep in rows 24-36" apart. Plants require trellising. Under ideal conditions, germination will occur in 7-10 days. For highest yield, harvest regularly. Avoid touching plants while leaves are wet as this can spread disease.
