Also known as Elegant Clarkia, Mountain Garland is a wildflower that is native to the Western parts of the United States. Its Latin name "Clarkia" was chosen in honor of Captain William Clark, who along with Meriwether Lewis, led the famed Lewis and Clark expedition across the western United States in 1804-1806. Mountain Garland grows two to three feet tall, producing multibranched stems with pink, purple, white, or salmon-colored flowers borne all along their axes. The beautiful double to semi-double flowers make excellent cut flowers with an extended vase life, especially if cut when the middle flowers are just about to open.
