Nantes Carrot
150 Seeds
(Daucus carota) Heirloom dating back to the 1880's. Fast growing variety produces deep orange, 6-7" long, cylindrical carrots with a crisp, sweet flavor. Matures at least a week ahead of most other varieties, which makes it a great variety for both spring and fall planting. 60-75 days to harvest. Approx. 150 seeds/pkt.
CULTURE: Plant seeds outdoors about 3-5 weeks before the last frost. Prepare bed by tilling and removing any rocks. Sow seeds in furrows 1/8" deep with rows 12-18" apart. Keep soil moist until germination has occurred (10-21 days.) Hint: To keep soil cool and moist during germination, carrot seed can be interplanted with radishes, which are harvested once the carrot seedlings are well established. Thin seedlings to one every 3-4". Successive plantings can be made every 2-3 weeks throughout spring and fall.
