(Capsicum annuum) A truly unique pepper variety.  Compact, highly-branched plants blanketed with hundreds of 1" long peppers.  Plants have an almost ornamental appearance, making them an excellent choice for containers and hanging baskets.  Very hot. 85 days to harvest.  25 seeds/pkt.

GROWING PEPPERS FROM SEED:

CULTURE: Peppers perform best in well-drained soil that contains plenty of organic matter and adequate phosphorous and calcium.  Mulching plants with poly, paper, or natural materials will ensure consistent moisture throughout the root zone.

SOWING: For earliest harvest, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.  Sow seeds 1/4" deep in well moistened, sterile seed-starting mix.  The ideal temperature for pepper seed germination is 85 degrees.  For best results, place a growers heat mat beneath trays until germination has occurred.  Under ideal conditions, germination should occur in 10-14 days. 

TRANSPLANTING: After danger of frost has passed, set transplants 18-24" apart in rows 24-36" apart.  Ensure that plants receive 1-2" of water per week.  Avoid over-application of nitrogen as this can cause vegetative growth at the expense of fruit set.

INSECT PESTS: Biological controls such as Bacillus thuringiensis can be effective in controlling climbing cutworms.  Aphids, flea beetles, and other hard-shelled insects can be controlled with a simple homemade insecticidal soap solution.

DISEASES AND PROBLEMS: To prevent common pepper diseases like Phytopthora and bacterial spot, avoid watering plants at night or on cool, cloudy days.  Excess nitrogen and/or insufficient phosphorous can cause pepper plants to become bushy and produce few blossoms.

HARVEST AND STORAGE:  Peppers can be harvested at any time, but should be picked before they become soft or overly mature.  Harvesting regularly will encourage further fruit set.  Peppers can be stored in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.

SAVING SEEDS:  Select disease-free plants that are true-to-type.  Pepper plants are prone to cross pollination by bees, so precautions should be taken to prevent pollination by insects.  Covering plants with mosquito netting is an effective method to protect against pollen contamination.

The best Thai pepper

This is the finest Thai pepper to grow with its perfect heat level, lemony finish and abundant growth throughout the year. I've grown others, but none match these. I keep 4-6 plants going year round from your seeds. It's the Thai pepper a number of my Thai friends have been searching for. I've shared your seeds and info with several Thai restaurant owners locally who'd never grown these before, and now love them! I keep photos of my plants grown from Thresh Seed on my phone to plant the 'seeds' with others so that they can discover them and enjoy them too. The Thresh Seed packs make great gifts to friends who enjoy Thai cuisine. I enjoy them with everything--from eggs in the morning to every Thai dish to even Quervo Gold Martinis!

1 st seeds wrong & never received the 2nd

The first seeds I had ordered were wrong. I had ordered Thai chili peppers and was sent baseball lettuce. They were very nice on the phone and said they would correct it and send me the correct seeds. I wouldn’t fuss but the shipping was as much as the seeds were. I never received the seeds when I check the tracking number it looks like UPS may have lost them, last tracking was 6/27 so I emailed Thresh to see if they could see where the seeds are and haven’t heard back and that was weeks ago.

Well shoot, this is certainly not the level of service we aim for. I sincerely apologize, Debora, for the mistake on your first order and the poor communication following the shipment of the replacement. I have refunded the original order and prepared another shipment, this time with another carrier. We'll get some Thai Chile seeds to you one way or another.

So Far So Good

All seeds apparently germinated after soaking, and the seedlings are healthy. Looking forward to some spicy fruits later in the season!

100% germination on the 13 I started soaking. Four leaves on them, now. Cute little buggers are looking like they should. All smiles. No complaints.

Thai seeds

We planted our seeds when we received them in our greenhouse. We have started our plants from seed for years. None have come up. Don’t think they will. Not sure what’s wrong.
