Black Nebula Carrot
150 Seeds
(Daucus carota) A truly unique carrot! Plants produce wide, tapered roots with gorgeous deep purple coloring throughout. Anthocyanin-rich color is so intense that it bleeds from the carrots when cut. Great for roasting, juicing and as a colorful garnish atop salads. Mildly sweet flavor intensifies with frost. 75 days to harvest. 150 seeds per packet.
CULTURE: Plant seeds outdoors about 3-5 weeks before the last frost. Prepare bed by tilling and removing any rocks. Sow seeds in furrows 1/8" deep with rows 12-18" apart. Keep soil moist until germination has occurred (10-21 days.) Hint: To keep soil cool and moist during germination, carrot seed can be interplanted with radishes, which are harvested once the carrot seedlings are well established. Thin seedlings to one every 3-4". Successive plantings can be made every 2-3 weeks throughout spring and fall.
