Most Common Questions

Unfortunately, we do not have a print catalog at this time. We invite you to browse our website for a complete listing of our offerings. If you are more comfortable ordering over the phone, we are happy to assist you in that way. We can be reached at 641-524-5832.

Because the farm is also our family home, we are not open to the public at this time.

As gardeners and seed savers, we take great care in ensuring that our strains are properly and accurately presented to our customers through the images and text we employ throughout our website.  We do not use stock images for our products.  Every image on this website is the result of sowing, cultivating, tending, and harvesting the exact varieties we sell.  We hire a professional photographer to ensure that these varieties are presented in a way that informs and inspires home gardeners. Likewise, our descriptions are personally written to reflect our experience with a particular variety and its history.

We welcome the sharing of our images for the purposes of outreach and education.  We only ask that you credit us when using our images and provide a link to our website. If you are unsure whether your blog or website meets these guidelines, feel free to contact us. The commercial use of our images, however, is strictly prohibited.  All images presented on this website are registered with the US Copyright Office and their unauthorized use constitutes a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). We utilize a web crawling service to identify unauthorized use of our images and take steps to have them removed.

Unfortunately, we do not sell live plants at this time. However, we are confident that starting seeds is within the abilities of any gardener and we invite you to visit our growing guides for some encouragement and useful starter tips.

We do not sell wholesale seeds at this time.

We ship to all areas of North America including the United States, its territories and outlying islands, and Canada. International orders may incur an additional charge to cover the handling of customs paperwork.

We appreciate that some of the rare varieties listed on our website are highly sought after in other countries. We would point seed savers abroad to visit the Seed Savers Exchange to connect with gardeners who may be willing to ship these varieties internationally.

Yes! Packets that are not sold by the end of the year are donated to community organizations, schools, and charities. These donations are made on a first come first serve basis. To reserve your spot, please contact becky@threshseed.com.

Seed related questions

We are not certified organic at this time. For a comprehensive selection of certified organic seeds, we would encourage you to visit Uprising Seeds.

Absolutely! Our resealable, mylar-lined packaging is designed with you in mind. Just keep them in a cool, dark place until ready to use.

The shelf life of your seeds will depend on the seed type (tomato seeds, for example, can last a decade or more) and the storage conditions. Storing your seeds in a consistently cool, dry, dark place will give them the greatest longetivity. On average, most seeds will last a minimum of 3 years in storage.

We frequently run sales during the winter and spring months. Many of these sales are not promoted on our website. To be notified and to receive exclusive access to discounts, please sign up for our newsletter using the form at the bottom of this page.

Yes! In fact, we encourage it. On each product page, under the growing information section, you will find detailed information about saving seeds for that variety. All of our seeds are open-pollinated and are not patented, so they can be saved without concern.

In certain cases, we may offer a threatened or nearly extinct variety for a limited time to get it back into circulation. We rely on you, our friends, customers and fellow seed savers, to preserve the genetic diversity and history carried within these seeds.
