50 Seeds

$ 2.79

(Vigna unguiculata)  Produces large quantities of long thin pods each containing 14-16 tan peas.  Pods are initially green, but over time transition through a stunning series of mottled pinks and fuchsias before finally maturing to a dark purple.  Pods of varying colors are present all at once and together make quite a beautiful display.  Sure to catch the attention of northern gardeners, many of whom have yet to discover cowpeas, although they perform quite well here in Iowa.  Plants offer amazing yield in a small amount of space and best of all, pods are set on top of the plant which is a real relief on the gardener's back.  75-85 days.  Approx. 50 seeds/pkt.

Culture:  After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 2" apart, 1" deep in rows 36" apart.  Plants will vine if trellised.  Immature seeds can be cooked fresh or pods can be left to dry on the vine.
