(Brassica oleracea) A unique cabbage variety that is both beautiful and delicious. Plants produce large crumpled leaves that turn purple where exposed to the sun. Sweeter than most other cabbages and more heat tolerant. 60-75 days to harvest. Approx. 100 seeds/pkt.
CULTURE: Sow seeds indoors approx. 6-8 weeks before last frost. Transplant outdoors as soon as soil can be worked or approximately 5 weeks before last frost. Fall crops can be started approximately 3 months before last frost and set outdoors once seedlings have put out at least three true leaves. Cabbage plants are heavy feeders and therefore will benefit from a heavy dose of well-composted manure. Floating row covers and biological controls are effective tools to protect against damaging insects.
