Blue Podded Shelling Pea
50 Seeds
(Pisum sativum) Also known as Blauwschokkers, this variety produces lovely bi-colored flowers that, upon pollination, develop into beautiful dark purple pods. So beautiful, it could be grown as an ornamental. The peas are starchy rather than sweet and therefore are best used in recipes that call for dry peas. To harvest, simply let the pods dry on the vine, then shell and store away for winter. 85-100 days. 50 seeds/pkt.
Culture: Peas prefer cool weather. As soon as soil can be worked, plant seeds 2" apart, 1" deep in rows 18" apart. Plants grow to 5-6ft and therefore require trellising. Seeds germinate in 7-10 days.
