(Cosmos bipinnatus) All-America Selections winner in 1936. Easy-to-grow heirloom produces a delightful mixture of crimson, pink, white, and fuchsia flowers atop wispy stems with airy, thread-like leaves. Plants grow to 4', flowering from July through September with peak bloom occurring in mid-August. An excellent cut flower. Tolerates poor soil and drought. Deer-resistant. Approx. 250 seeds per packet.
CULTURE: After danger of frost has passed, sow seeds 1/4" deep into a prepared garden bed. Germination will occur in 3-10 days. Thin to one plant every 12-18". Do not over-water as this will reduce blooms.
This is the first time I grew the sensation cosmos mix. While it took a long time to germinate and bloom, it was very well worth it! The surround my mailbox at the farm and at my home. I also have a patch in the butterfly area where I grow strawberries and lettuce greens. I will most certainly reorder next year!
